Prime Minister Naoto Kan held a meeting with Mr. Nobuaki Koga, President of the Japanese Trade Union Confederation (RENGO), and others representing RENGO at the Prime Minister's Office.

In his opening address, the Prime Minister said, "Now we are in December, we have one last month left for formulation of the budget for the next fiscal year. I have long been emphasizing the importance of employment. That is because creation of jobs will break the economy free from deflation, and also because employment will lead to growth depending on the nature of the work. A budget enabling job creation is the kind of budget we aim to formulate. I intend to make efforts in this final stage of the last one month toward achieving growth through creations of jobs."
