Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the second meeting of the Headquarters of the Government and Ruling Parties for Social Security Reform at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the advancement of the social security reform.

Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said, "The principles compiled at this Headquarters include the design of social security and taxation systems, which is a major challenge that previous administrations could not overcome. However, this time I am confident that a foundation has been laid out to tackle and overcome this challenge. Although we now have a set direction, I think the real challenge has just begun and would like to ask for even further efforts on the part of the Headquarters."
