Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the fourth meeting of the Roundtable on the Promotion of Inward Investment held at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the Japan Inward Investment Promotion Program.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "We have been making utmost efforts on frameworks such as a recent agreement on a nuclear power plant in Viet Nam, cooperation with Viet Nam on rare earths, the issue of an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) with India, and the advancement of negotiations for the EPA with Peru. At the same time, we were finally able to start addressing, in a concrete term, the issue of agricultural reform, which is inextricably linked to those frameworks.
For our part, the government, focusing on the future, commits full efforts in ensuring that the growth of Asia and of the Pacific region is firmly linked to Japan. I sincerely ask that each of you, from economic and labor circles, in your respective fields, will make investment actively, which will result in an enhanced quality of the people's lives in Japan. To that end, we too will do our utmost, and I ask for your continued guidance, support in various aspects, and actions."
