Prime Minister Naoto Kan attended the Meeting of the Nation's Prefectural Governors that the government hosted at the Prime Minister's Office.

Those attending the meeting in addition to the Prime Minister were: Mr. Yoshito Sengoku, Chief Cabinet Secretary, Mr. Yoshihiro Katayama, Minister for Internal Affairs and Communications and Minister of State for Promotion of Local Sovereignty, and others. On the National Governors' Association side, Mr. Wataru Aso, President of the Association and Governor of Fukuoka Prefecture, and other prefectural governors attended the meeting to exchange views.
