On October 31 (local time), Prime Minister Naoto Kan paid a visit to the National Hero Memorial and the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum in Hanoi, offering a wreath of flowers at each, and attended a welcome ceremony held in front of the Presidential Palace.
Later, Prime Minister Kan held talks with Mr. Nguyen Tan Dung, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, at the Prime Minister's Office. After the meeting, the leaders signed a joint statement and held a joint press conference.
Prime Minister Kan also paid a courtesy call on Mr. Nong Duc Manh, General Secretary of the Communist Party of Viet Nam.
