Prime Minister Naoto Kan delivered an address at the opening of the High-Level Segment of the Tenth Meeting of the Conference of the Parties to the Convention on Biological Diversity held at the Nagoya Congress Center.
After delivering the address, the Prime Minister held talks in Nagoya City with Mr. Ali Bongo Ondimba, President of the Gabonese Republic, and then received a courtesy call from Mr. Joseph Deiss, President of the 65th Session of the United Nations General Assembly.
In the following reception he hosted, Prime Minister Kan made opening remarks, saying, "I must ask for your final efforts as we work to achieve the common goal of protecting biodiversity and reenergizing our earth. I once again ask, but I am also strongly convinced, that COP10 will bear results that allow everyone here to go back home satisfied when the meetings have been completed."
