Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the third meeting of the Council on the Realization of the New Growth Strategy at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the promotion of economic partnership, domestic agricultural issues, and other matters.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "I expect our discussion on the promotion of economic partnership and domestic agricultural issues will have a significant impact on Japan's future as well as the role of the regions.
We will also be discussing here the 'comprehensive special zone system.' The world is currently changing at a torrential speed. I ask for your cooperation in pointing Japan towards the right direction for the country's future at the Council on the Realization of the New Growth Strategy."
