Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the 12th meeting of the Government Revitalization Unit at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on the third round of the review of government programs and other matters.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "We have finally come to the stage of scrutinizing special accounts, for which end I ask you to proceed with the third round of the review of government programmes.
It is my strong wish to clarify everything without exception. It has been pointed out on various occasions that there are hidden debts instead of hidden reserves within special accounts. I ask you to make all monies of the national treasury clear before the people.
We will boldly eliminate special accounts that have no particular reason to exist. I would like you to put an end to the longtime discussion concerning special accounts."
