Prime Minister Naoto Kan held the fifth meeting of the Employment Strategy Dialogue at the Prime Minister's Office.

Discussion took place on emergency measures related to the employment of new graduates and other matters.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "The Employment Strategy Dialogue has been a top priority since the Hatoyama Administration. I, too, believe employment is a top priority issue. As employment grows, the economy grows. In this sense, we must make sure to maintain and expand employment. Furthermore, if employment grows, then production also rises, and if, in turn, revenue increases, then tax revenue also rises. In this context, the government would like to create a positive cycle of the economy, public finances, and social security."
