Prime Minister Naoto Kan held a meeting for an exchange of views with the Chiefs of Staff of the Self-Defense Forces and others at the Prime Minister's Office.

The Prime Minister said in his opening address, "The Self-Defense Forces is expected to play a large role for the peace of Japan. Going forward, I would like to fulfill my responsibility [as Commander in Chief of the Self-Defense Forces] while lending an ear to your views."
