Prime Minister Naoto Kan held a meeting with Mr. Nobuaki Koga, President of the Japanese Trade Union Confederation (RENGO), and others representing RENGO at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the start of the meeting, the Prime Minister said, "Of the current situation of Japan, although there are various aspects to it, we believe that the issues of economy, finance, social security, and especially employment are extremely important factors. In this sense, I think it is desirable to see the economy grow, fiscal health restored, and the social security system strengthened in turn, in tandem with the employment market.

In this sense, I will be asking your opinions from various aspects today, and would like to take in earnest what is discussed on each issue and commit the full effort in implementing what can be implemented."
