Prime Minister of Japan and His Cabinet
Innovation 25 TOP

Message from Chairperson Kurokawa

I am Kiyoshi Kurokawa, special advisor to the Cabinet on science, technology and innovation issues. I was assigned as Council Chairperson of the "Innovation 25 Strategy Council", under Minister Takaichi, Minister of State for Innovation appointed by Prime Minister Abe, to address an issue; how our society will be shaped or what we should do from now to create an innovative society for a better future in 2025.

@Looking back 20 years ago, cellular phones and the Internet, which are now widely used throughout the world, did not exist anywhere in the world. Today, liquid crystal and plasma displays used for TVs, cellular phones and car navigation systems have suddenly replaced cathode-ray tube TVs. The impact of this innovation is not limited to the change of "materials," themselves. These products and services have brought about a significant transformation to our lives. We are still facing daunting challenges which should be addressed immediately, such as safety/security, environment/energy, falling birthrate/aging of population. However, we hope to see the creation of various types of innovation, which can dramatically change our lives domestically and overseas in the next 20 years.

@When we think about a society created by innovation, it is necessary to always keep the following 3 points in mind, "Realization of new wealth in our society from the perspective of the citizens ", "Large Asia and growth by coexisting with the world" and a "Society where high-spirited, highly creative people are willing to take on any risks to play an active role in society".

@I will do my best to realize a society in Japan where innovation is continuously created, drawing the picture of a future 2025 full of aspirations. I very much appreciate your understanding, contribution and support.
