At the meeting, Mr. Takeshi Sasaki, Chair of the Council, presented materials outlining ideas for the compilation of the Council's opinions, for the Council members to further exchange views on them. With the basic position being the shift to the administration that takes the standpoint of the consumers and the people, one of the materials presented describes the necessity of the six principles that a new organization is required to meet, the establishment of an integrated, user-friendly consultation service that the consumers can rely on, and the actual functions of the new organization. It also states that an Agency for Consumer Affairs will be established in the next fiscal year.
