Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda held the 3rd meeting of the Council on the Global Warming Issue. At the meeting, the Council members conducted active discussions on a low carbon society and paths to lead to such a society, as well as technology innovation to support the low carbon society.

Reflecting on the discussions at the Council meeting, Prime Minister Fukuda said, "In the previous meeting of this Council, I stated that we must work to address the global warming issue with a sense of urgency. I have reaffirmed the necessity of such work at today's meeting. I also reaffirmed the importance for each and every one of the people to work on this issue with a sense of urgency, and the importance for the Government to strengthen its efforts to support the people's work. I intend to use today's recommendations in putting together the opinions of the Council."
