At the meeting, the Program to Accelerate Women's Participation was adopted. This Program incorporates a set of the government's measures to promote women's advancement in society, such as the goal to achieve, by 2020, a share of approximately 30%, at least, of women in leading positions in society. Prime Minister Fukuda said, "Human resources are a nation's treasure. It is vital that we have a shining treasure -- women -- to ensure our nation a bright future. Today, we adopted the Program to Accelerate Women's Participation. I am convinced that vibrant women will lead the growth of our economy and the society of tomorrow."
