Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda convened the Ministerial Meeting on the Pension Record Problem. At the meeting, the Ministers decided on "The Responses to the Pension Record Problem" that stipulate a thorough response to cases in which notifications sent under the Pension Special Notification Service do not, in fact, reach the designated individual, or in which a person who receives a notification does not return the requested reply, and also set out measures to strengthen the system, such as a measure to increase the number of members of the Third-Party Committee to Check Pension Records.

In his address, Prime Minister Fukuda said, "With regard to the problem of pension records, what is important is to make a sincere response to each and every case. This is particularly true for the elderly people who account for a large number of cases. I would also like to see to it that postcards requesting a reply will be sent to those who have not replied to a notification, and also that things will go smoothly for matters concerning the Third-Party Committee to Check Pension Records."
