Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda held the presentation ceremony of the Prime Minister's Award to the winner of the 40th Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
Sponsored by the Japan Professional Sports Association, the Japan Professional Sports Grand Prize is awarded each year to the individual or group that is deemed to have made the largest contribution to overall professional sports throughout the country.
The Grand Prize for the year 2007 was awarded to J-League's Urawa Red Diamonds, winner of the AFC (Asian Football Confederation) Champions League as well as the match for third place at the FIFA (Federation Internationale de Football Association) Club World Cup.
Representing the team, Mr. Mitsunori Fujiguchi, the President of Urawa Red Diamonds, and players of the team, Mr. Yuichiro Nagai, Mr. Keita Suzuki, and Mr. Yuki Abe, visited the Prime Minister at his office, and Prime Minister Fukuda presented them with the Prime Minister's Award.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister received a uniform signed by all the team members and a football.
