Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda held the 2nd Emergency Ministerial Meeting on the Surge in the Crude Oil Price and Subcontracted Small and Medium Enterprises at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
At the meeting, the Ministers, in line with the basic policies that were decided on in the previous meeting, set in place a document entitled, "Concerning Concrete Steps for the Implementation of Emergency Measures for Small and Medium Enterprises, Business Sectors, and the People's Daily Lives to Counteract the Surge in the Crude Oil Price." This package of responses is tailored to different needs of the people, and is centered on six pillars, including cross-sectoral policies encompassing small and medium enterprises and daily-life measures for the people living on remote islands and in cold regions.
In his address, Prime Minister Fukuda said, "The values of these measures are determined in their implementation stage," and instructed the Ministers concerned "to make their utmost efforts toward ensuring the real effectiveness of each and every one of the measures."
