Prime Minister Yasuo Fukuda visited the 9th Eco Products 2007 -- Eco Style Fair.

Eco-Products 2007, a fair showcasing environmentally-friendly products, was held with the purpose of helping people to come up with their own ways of leading an ecological life against the backdrop of the growing interest of people in the global environment, by providing them with an opportunity to experience Eco-Products, environmentally-friendly products and services. The aim was to make contributions toward the prevention of global warming and the realization of a sustainable society.

Following the observation, reporters asked Prime Minister Fukuda to comment on his visit to Eco-Products 2007, and asked about the efforts that Japan is to make to resolve environmental issues. Prime Minister Fukuda responded to them, saying, "We see tremendous efforts being made by the private-sector entities. A total of 632 companies and organizations participated in this fair and I was quite impressed by the number. I was also surprised to see so many people coming to visit the fair, which certainly demonstrated people's strong interest in the environment. I think I can proudly say that Japan is leading other nations in efforts to resolve environmental issues. On your part, I suggest that you save as many batteries as you can."

Asked about his personal undertakings to address environmental issues, Prime Minister Fukuda said, "Although I thought I had made my best efforts, I realized, after observing various exhibits here today, that my efforts were not sufficient. As such, I will continue my best efforts going forward as well."
