on the Termination of Replenishment Support Activities
upon the Expiration of the Replenishment Support Special Measures Law

[Provisional Translation]

JAPANESE

Today, upon the expiration of the Replenishment Support Special Measures Law, Japan will terminate its replenishment support activities in the Indian Ocean being conducted by the Maritime Self-Defence Force.

As Prime Minister, I express my sincere respect and deep gratitude to the members of Self-Defence Force who have devoted themselves to their duties with high morale and discipline in a harsh working environment which is far away from Japan. I am also grateful to the members of their families for the support they have provided them.

Contributing to the peace and stability of the international community serves Japan's national interests as well as those of others. Japan shall thus continue to contribute positively and proactively to counter-terrorism efforts by the international community.
