At the meeting, ministers concerned made reports on matters such as the status of economic countermeasures implemented thus far and timing to take each step as well as its content.
Prime Minister Aso said, "Receiving reports from ministers, I have confirmed that each economic countermeasure has been implemented steadily and has been producing results unfailingly. We are in a critical stage as we ensure the rebound of the Japanese economy after reaching the bottom. Therefore, it is of utmost importance that we keep producing results and continue to make the utmost efforts. We need to pay due attention to the severe employment situation. In particular, employment measures for the young people, who carry on the next generation of Japan, must be promoted across the ministries and agencies, rather than in the government's vertically-segmented administrative structure. Accordingly, we have decided to establish a cross-ministerial project team under Mr. Yoshimasa Hayashi, Minister of State for Economic and Fiscal Policy. I ask that cross-ministerial efforts will be made centering on this project team."
