During the meeting, the leaders evaluated exchanges between the two countries, including the steady implementation of the Japan-Mongolia Basic Action Plan for the coming decade, which has promoted a wide range of exchanges in all areas under a comprehensive partnership. They also exchanged views on matters such as economic cooperation, the strengthening of economic and trade relations in the private sector, the importance of people-to-people exchanges, and the North Korean issue.
In the opening address, Prime Minister Aso said, "Japan and Mongolia have been advancing a wide range of exchanges in all areas, including sports and culture, under a comprehensive partnership.
"I am convinced that Prime Minister Bayar's visit to Japan will make Japan-Mongolia relations unshakable. I also expect that the results of today's summit meeting will contribute to the steady development of Japan-Mongolia relations."
After the meeting, the leaders attended the signing ceremony for the Exchange of Notes for the Project for Improvement of Water Supply Facilities in Darkhan City (grant aid) and the Memorandum of Cooperation on Nuclear Energy and Uranium Resources.
