Prime Minister Taro Aso held a debate with President of the Democratic Party of Japan Yukio Hatoyama at the Committee on Fundamental National Policies Joint Meeting of Both Houses at the Diet. The leaders debated issues including North Korea's nuclear test, issues concerning political donations and amakudari (the practice of civil servants obtaining posts in related organizations after retirement from public office), and a supplementary budget.
