Prime Minister Taro Aso received a courtesy call from Ms. Tatianna Duran, the 2009 United States Cherry Blossom Queen, and Ms. Erisa Kazui, the 22nd Japan Cherry Blossom Queen, at the Prime Minister's Office.

Ms. Duran, who participated in the Washington Cherry Blossom Queen Competition as the representative of the State of New Mexico, was selected this April to be the 61st United States Cherry Blossom Queen.

Ms. Kazui was selected to be the 22nd Japan Cherry Blossom Queen last March. In addition to attending cherry blossom festivals in Japan, she will visit the United States and Germany as the cherry blossom ambassador.

In a friendly atmosphere, Prime Minister Aso shared with them an episode of the visit to the United States by the 1st Japan Cherry Blossom Queen, who brought with her a personal letter of then Prime Minister Shigeru Yoshida.
