Prime Minister Taro Aso held an advisory meeting on overcoming the economic crisis at the Prime Minister's Office.

This was the first of the meetings to be held to address the deterioration of the Japanese economy triggered by the global financial crisis. Divided into 10 groups, leading experts of various fields will advise the Prime Minister in a comprehensive manner on how to steer Japan's economic and fiscal policies going forward.

This time, eight economists and academics were invited to the Prime Minister's Office, who discussed the policy direction with the Cabinet members concerned.
