Prime Minister Taro Aso held the 3rd meeting of the Headquarters to Promote Civil Service Reform at the Diet building.

At the meeting, Mr. Akira Amari, Minister of State for Regulatory Reform, Administrative Reform, and Civil Service Reform, made a report on the schedule of reforms of the civil service system, which was then decided on by the Headquarters. In line with this schedule, the reforms will be accelerated as much as possible, by aiming at shortening the overall process from "within five years" to "within four years," and to complete, to the greatest extent possible, other legal groundwork within two years.

Prime Minister Aso said, "I would like to see to it that reforms of the civil service system be advanced vigorously according to this schedule. I ask the ministers concerned to extend utmost cooperation for reforms outlined in the schedule. We will make adjustments on remaining issues with regard to the National Personnel Authority."
