Prime Minister Taro Aso attended a meeting of the Budget Committee of the House of Councillors and answered questions from Committee members on the second fiscal 2008 supplementary budget proposal.

In reply to the question on the economic countermeasures against the global financial crisis, Prime Minister Aso said, "We must implement in a seamless manner the economic countermeasures underpinned by the first and second fiscal 2008 supplementary budgets and the fiscal 2009 budget." He emphasized his resolve to make the utmost efforts for the early entry into force of the second fiscal 2008 supplementary budget and the fiscal 2009 budget proposal.
