First, Prime Minister Aso visited the Seoul National Cemetery and offered a wreath at the Hyeon Chung Tower. This cemetery commemorates the people who lost their lives for the ROK, enshrining more than 160,000 Koreans including contributors to the nation.
Afterwards, the Prime Minister, together with the 18 business figures accompanying him, including Mr. Fujio Mitarai, Chairman of the Nippon Keidanren (Japan Business Federation), and Mr. Tadashi Okamura, Chairman of the Japan Chamber of Commerce and Industry, attended a luncheon hosted by four major economic associations of the ROK.
In the afternoon, Prime Minister Aso visited the Fusion Technology Center of Hanyang University, which is promoting research on advanced science and technology jointly with Japan. Later, he enjoyed an exchange with the participants of the Japan-Korea Camp, part of the Japan-East Asia Network of Exchange for Students and Youths (JENESYS) Programme.
In the evening, Prime Minister Aso attended a meeting with President Lee and business figures from Japan and the ROK, which was held at Cheong Wa Dae, Office of the President, where the two countries agreed to unite their efforts towards overcoming the global financial crisis. The Prime Minister later attended a banquet hosted by President Lee.
