Prime Minister Taro Aso held talks with Mr. Emanuel "Manny" Mori, President of the Federated States of Micronesia, at the Prime Minister's Office.

At the start of the meeting, Prime Minister Aso said, "I am truly happy to welcome the President in this landmark year marking the 20th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between our two countries. Also, I would like to express my gratitude for your consideration when Japan sent its first resident ambassador to Micronesia in June and when Mr. Yoshiro Mori, former Prime Minister of Japan, visited Micronesia in September as an Ambassador on Special Mission."

At the meeting, the two leaders discussed the 5th Summit Meeting between Japan and the Pacific Islands Forum (PIF) to be held in May next year, and other issues including economic cooperation and the United Nations Security Council reform.
