Tuesday, June 26, 2007
Prime Minister Shinzo Abe hosted a ceremony to honor contributors to the effort to support people to challenge again at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
The ceremony was held to acknowledge and praise individuals and groups that have made significant contributions to the effort to support people to challenge again. They were commended for their work in helping to remove barriers faced by people in various situations and circumstances to realizing their goals or expanding their options in terms of employment, entrepreneurship, learning, housing and other needs. The ceremony is aimed at broadly promoting excellent activities and increasing momentum throughout society to encourage people to challenge again.
This year, 24 individuals and groups received awards for their contributions to the effort to support people in challenging again, including support for people facing difficult employment situations and experiencing economic difficulties, as well as efforts to ensure equal opportunities for the disabled and elderly.
Prime Minister Abe told the award recipients, "I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude to you for taking on challenges in various fields to build a society full of opportunity for those who are strongly eager to challenge again, and in which their efforts prove worthwhile. I would like to ask for your continued cooperation in bringing out a society that encourages people to challenge again."
