Japan-Brunei Summit Meeting

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a meeting with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah of Brunei Darussalam.
At the meeting, the two leaders welcomed the concluding of the Agreement between Japan and Brunei Darussalam for an Economic Partnership and expressed their expectations for the agreement to serve to further develop and strengthen their bilateral relations. The leaders also exchanged opinions on stable energy supply, North Korea, United Nations Security Council reform and global warming, among other issues.
After the meeting, the leaders held a signing ceremony for the Agreement. At the joint press conference that followed, Prime Minister Abe said, "I am very pleased that our nations were able to conclude an agreement within such a short timeframe of one year after the start of negotiation. I have a strong expectation for both Japan and Brunei to develop further through the promotion of cooperation and exchanges between our two nations."
