Prime Minister Shinzo Abe invited Mr. Samdech Hun Sen, the Prime Minister of the Royal Government of Cambodia, to a welcome ceremony in the South Garden of the Prime Minister's Official Residence on the morning of June 14 during Prime Minister Hun Sen's visit to Japan as official guest.

A Japan-Cambodia Summit Meeting took place the evening of the same day at the Prime Minister's Official Residence. At the meeting, the leaders confirmed that the two nations will further strengthen their bilateral relations in their efforts to tackle regional and international issues. They also discussed economic cooperation, promotion of trade and investment, an invitation for Cambodian youth to visit Japan, North Korean nuclear and abduction issues, United Nations reform and climate change, among other topics.

After the meeting, the leaders signed the Joint Statement on the New Partnership Between Japan and Cambodia as well as the Agreement between Japan and the Kingdom of Cambodia for the Liberalization, Promotion and Protection of Investment (JCBIA). Following this, Prime Minister Abe hosted a dinner for the visiting Prime Minister.
