Summit Meeting

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a meeting with Mr. Bouasone Bouphavanh, the Prime Minister of the Lao People's Democratic Republic (Lao PDR) at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.
At the beginning, Prime Minister Abe said, "For long-term economic development, it is important to maintain fundamental values such as freedom, democracy, basic human rights, rule of law, and good governance. Japan would like to offer assistance to the self-help efforts of Laos of Laos."
During the meeting, the two leaders discussed an early conclusion of the private-sector investment agreement between their countries and the mutual visa exemption for diplomatic passport holders. The two leaders also agreed to launch a Japan-Lao PDR Public and Private Dialogue by the end of this year.
Prime Minister Bouasone extended an invitation to Prime Minister Abe to visit Lao PDR. Prime Minister Abe stated in response that he would consider it at a good opportunity.
