Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from the United Nations Young Civic Ambassadors and talked with them at the Prime Minister's Official Residence.

These Young Civic Ambassadors are six secondary school students selected from young volunteers who actively participated in the "No! Absolutely No!" Fundraising Campaign for the United Nation (UN) promoted nationwide to assist the UN efforts to eradicate drug abuse. The Ambassadors are scheduled to stay in Vienna, Austria, from March 17 to 23 in order to deliver the contribution to the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNOCD) and visit places such as drug laboratories, a therapeutic facility, and the Vienna Municipal Office.

On behalf of the Young Civic Ambassadors, Rie Watanabe (second from left on the photo), a second-year student at Ojiya Senior High School in Niigata Prefecture expressed her ambitions, saying, "During our visit to Vienna, we would like to obtain global experience and knowledge and use them for our future activities once we get back to Japan."

Prime Minister Abe responded with words of encouragement by saying, "I will be very grateful if you continue cooperating with campaigns like this one in the future, from your own perspectives. Thank you for your hard work."
