Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a courtesy call from MLB (Major League Baseball, the U.S. Major League) players Tadahito Iguchi, Kenji Johjima, John Maine, David Wright, and Jose Reyes at the Prime Minister's Official Residence and enjoyed a conversation with them.

Mr. Wright presented Prime Minister Abe with a uniform with the prime minister's name on it and the number "1" on the back, Mr. Johjima gave him a catcher's mitt that he had worn in actual games, and Mr. Iguchi presented him with a signed bat. Prime Minister Abe put on the uniform and spent the meeting in a pleasant conversation with the players. He told the story of how he played as a catcher when he was an elementary school student, shared his memories of seeing a New York Mets game when he was Deputy Chief Cabinet Secretary, and asked the American players, "Wouldn't you like to play in Japan in the future?"
