Press Conference by the Prime Minister regarding the Results of Three Elections for the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors Held on April 25 and Other Matters

April 26, 2021

[Provisional Translation]

(On the results of three elections for the House of Representatives and the House of Councillors held on April 25)

Regarding the elections yesterday, I would like to humbly accept the judgment by the citizens, and we intend to conduct a further analysis and rectify what needs to be rectified. On top of that, the Government will make every effort so that all elderly people who want to be vaccinated would get the second shot by the end of July.

(On the by-election in Hiroshima Prefecture)

We have received various comments, and as the President of the Liberal Democratic Party, I will take them seriously. With this in mind, we intend to conduct an analysis on the situation of the local regions and rectify what needs to be rectified.

(On the accountability for politics and money)

I have said a number of times. Currently, the party’s documents are seized and the party has an accounting auditor. In light of this, we would like to make proper judgments.

(On the impact on the timing to dissolve the House of Representatives)

As I have been saying all along, I remain unchanged in our view that I put the highest priority on taking countermeasures against COVID-19 countermeasures.
