[Provisional Translation]

On August 30, 2021, the Prime Minister received a courtesy call at the Prime Minister’s Office from the students of the sixth Maritime Safety and Security Policy Program.

The Prime Minister said in his address,

“I would like to express my congratulations to the students of the sixth Maritime Safety and Security Policy Program on completing one-year training.

This program is designed to deepen mutual understanding and exchanges among maritime safety organizations of Asian countries and promote the collaboration among countries toward ensuring safety at sea.

I am very pleased to know that you have gained a deeper understanding of the importance of the rule of law at sea under this program and I express my heartfelt respect to people engaged in the program.

I would like to conclude my remarks of encouragement by expressing my expectations for your great contribution to the peace, security, and development of the Indo-Pacific region with the fundamental values of a free and open order based on the rule of law, rather than the rule of force, by leveraging bonds you forged through eating and sleeping together in Japan. Congratulations.”
