On July 12, 2021, the Prime Minister visited Shizuoka Prefecture to inspect the state of the damage caused by the heavy rains that began on July 1.

The Prime Minister visited the disaster area in Atami City, followed by his visit to a hotel used as a shelter. Then he was briefed by Dr. KAWAKATSU Heita, Governor of Shizuoka Prefecture, and Mr. SAITO Sakae, Mayor of Atami City, on the damage situation, and they held an exchange of views. Lastly, the Prime Minister spoke to the press regarding the visit and other matters.
