On October 19, 2020 (local time), during his visit to the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, the Prime Minister spoke to the press.

Regarding the Japan-Viet Nam Summit Meeting and other matter, the Prime Minister said,

“Today, during out summit meeting, Prime Minister Phuc and I held in-depth discussions on various issues, which I already overviewed during the press conference. We made a clear-cut confirmation on, in particular, resuming cross-border travel between our two countries, and promoting cooperation on supply-chains. In addition, Prime Minister Phuc and I shared the view that Japan and Viet Nam will contribute to the peace and development of the Indo-Pacific region. I believe this was a valuable first step towards realizing a Free and Open Indo-Pacific.’

Tomorrow, I will hold a summit meeting with President Joko in Indonesia. I intend for us to discuss coronavirus-related issues as well as various issues including our economies, and build a relationship in which we engage in close collaboration, as strategic partners that share fundamental values.”
