On October 1, 2020, the Prime Minister attended the opening ceremony of the Secretariat of the Headquarters for the World Expo, installed a signboard and also delivered an address to the staff.

The Prime Minister said in his address,

“With regard to the International Exposition, Minister Inoue has been appointed as Minister in charge and, just now, we have installed the signboard of this office. As seen, our structure to prepare for the Expo 2025, Osaka, Kansai, has finally been put in place. I believe that this expo will be the greatest opportunity to convey to the world Japan’s traditions, charms and culture after we overcome the novel coronavirus. In particular, I ask you to make full use of digitization, which is one of the priority issues of my administration, and work to materialize a new form of expo. In closing, I have high expectations that you will unite under the leadership of Minister Inoue and start work towards 2025 so as to make it a success. Thank you.”
