On July 22, 2020, the Prime Minister spoke to the press at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Regarding the launch of the Go To Campaign, the Prime Minister said,

“There is no change to our policy of asking people to thoroughly exercise infection prevention, including avoiding the three Cs (closed spaces, crowded places, and close-contact setting), and carefully resuming economic activities with their cooperation.

At the same time, we will take full preventive measures against infection and, to avoid patients from developing severe symptoms, extensively conduct screenings at care facilities for the elderly. Thank you very much.”

Responding to a question from reporters, the Prime Minister said,

“I have taken opportunities like this one right now to offer my explanations. Minister Nishimura and Chief Cabinet Secretary Suga also provide explanations on almost a daily basis. While taking into account various views from experts, we would like to explain thoroughly.”
