On April 8, 2020, the Prime Minister spoke to the press at the Prime Minister’s Office.

Regarding the declaration of a state of emergency, the Prime Minister said,

“Yesterday we issued the declaration of a state of emergency, and I would like to express my appreciation for the cooperation extended by many people from today.

I heard that many companies started teleworking for a major part of their employees from today. We will be able to lift the state of emergency only with such cooperation from the public. I believe we will surely overcome this situation if we reduce people to people contact by 70%, ideally by 80%.

I would like to ask for the continued cooperation of the public. Thank you.”
