On February 8, 2020, the Prime Minister held a press conference at the Prime Minister’s Official Residence.
 
Regarding the passing of a Japanese male in Wuhan, China, the Prime Minister said,
 
“I would like to extend my condolences to the man’s bereaved family and the peaceful repose of his soul. We intend to thoroughly support his family through the Embassy going forward.
 
A short while ago, I received reports from Minister of Health, Labour and Welfare Kato and the relevant offices. We will exert every effort to prevent the virus from becoming an epidemic and implement the necessary measures without hesitation, prioritizing the protection of the health and lives of the people over anything else.”
