[Provisional Translation]

On May 27, 2019, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a meeting with families of the abductees together with the Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States of America, at Akasaka Palace State Guest House.

The Prime Minister said in his address at the meeting,

“President Trump has taken valuable time out of his schedule once again to meet with you and listen to your thoughts. He also raised the abductions issue at the U.S.-North Korea Summit Meeting held in Hanoi, and conveyed my thoughts to Chairman Kim Jong-un. I am confident that President Trump has made great diplomatic efforts, considering your thoughts, and will exert every effort towards the resolution of this issue.”
