On June 1, 2018, Prime Minister Shinzo Abe received a proposal from the Research Commission on National Security and National Defense Division of the Liberal Democratic Party of Japan (LDP) toward the formulation of the new National Defense Program Guidelines and the Mid-Term Defense Program, at the Prime Minister’s Office.
