Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the second meeting of the Headquarters for the Promotion of Designated Zones for Integrated Resorts at the Prime Minister’s Office.

During the meeting, the “Proposal of the Council for the Promotion of Designated Zones for Integrated Resorts – Toward the Realization of a Tourism-Oriented Developed Nation” was submitted.

After receiving the proposal, the Prime Minister said in his address,

“The many experts of the Council for the Promotion of Designated Zones for Integrated Resorts, including Chair Yamauchi, have considered a wide-range of subjects from specialist perspectives and compiled the results of that discussion. I wish to express my gratitude to you on behalf of the Headquarters for the Promotion of Designated Zones for Integrated Resorts.

From the perspective of fostering more extensive public discussions, through the end of this month, I would like you to solicit public comments, and hold public briefings and hearings across the country, so as to create opportunities to provide careful explanations to the people.

I would then like you to draw up specific suggestions on the creation of attractive Japanese-style integrated resorts based on the wide-ranging opinions of the public. I ask that each of the relevant ministers, including the Minister in charge of Integrated Resorts, work together on this endeavor.”
