Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held a press conference at Tokyo International Airport (Haneda Airport).

With regard to the approaching meeting with Mr. Donald Trump, President-elect of the United States of America, and the meeting of the leaders of the 12 Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) countries, the Prime Minister said,

“I am deeply honored to be able to have a meeting with the President-elect of the United States ahead of the world leaders. I look forward to conversing with President-elect Trump about our dreams for the future.

The Japan-U.S. Alliance is the cornerstone of Japan’s diplomacy and security. The Alliance comes alive only when there is trust between our two countries. I would like to build a relationship of trust with President-elect Trump. On that basis, I intend to work hand-in-hand with President-elect Trump to achieve prosperity and peace in the world.

At the TPP leaders’ meeting, I would like to share my views regarding the significance of the TPP, the implementation of domestic procedures, and other matters.”
