On July 15 (local time), Prime Minister Shinzo Abe, who is visiting Ulaanbaatar in Mongolia to attend the 11th Asia-Europe Meeting (ASEM) and other events, attended the ASEM opening ceremony, followed by the first plenary session entitled “Two decades of partnership: taking stock and looking forward,” and then the second plenary session entitled “Promoting ASEM partnership for greater connectivity.” Afterwards, the Prime Minister attended a photograph session.
In addition, Prime Minister Abe held talks, respectively, with H.E. Dr. Angela Merkel, Chancellor of the Federal Republic of Germany, H.E. Sheikh Hasina, Prime Minister of the People's Republic of Bangladesh, H.E. Dr. Li Keqiang, Premier of the State Council of the People's Republic of China, and H.E. Mr. Donald Tusk, President of the European Council, together with H.E. Mr. Jean-Claude Juncker, President of the European Commission. Afterwards, the Prime Minister attended a Japan-EU joint press announcement.
Following this, Prime Minister Abe attended the special program for the Mongolian Nomadic Naadam festival, held a talk with H.E. Mr. Nguyen Xuan Phuc, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, and then received a courtesy call from H.E. Mr. Perfecto Rivas Yasay, Jr., Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of the Philippines.
