Ceremony of Reverence at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe attended the Ceremony of Reverence at Chidorigafuchi National Cemetery, held in the presence of Their Imperial Highnesses Prince and Princess Akishino.
On this occasion, among the remains of the war dead collected in the Bismarck Archipelago and the Solomon Islands, Russia, and elsewhere by government-dispatched groups tasked with collecting the remains of the war dead, 2,498 remains which cannot be returned to their families are entombed at the Cemetery. This brings the total number of remains entombed at the Cemetery to 362,570, including those remains previously entombed.
The Prime Minister, along with Cabinet members, ambassadors to Japan, representatives from related organizations, bereaved family members, and others participated in the ceremony and paid their respects to the war dead.
