[Provisional Translation]

Prime Minister Shinzo Abe held the 12th meeting of the Council on National Strategic Special Zones at the Prime Minister’s Office.
During the meeting, debate took place on additional items for regulatory reform.
Based on the discussion, the Prime Minister said,
“Thank you once again for engaging in intensive discussions. There is no end to the reforms of the Abe administration. Unfortunately, in the previous session of the Diet, the Bill for the Revision of the Law on National Strategic Special Zones was not adopted, but I intend to submit a bill with enhanced and stronger content at this Diet session.
The bill we submit during this session of the Diet will fully take into account regional needs, from the viewpoint of regional vitalization. In addition to the lifting of the prohibition on the private management of public schools and the establishment of region-specific nursery school teachers that were in the previous bill, we will also include the lifting of the prohibition on the establishment of daycare centers in urban parks and the expansion of the scope of medical care provided by doctors from abroad. Furthermore, in this bill, I intend to incorporate the fruits of our reforms, including those in the fields of agriculture, forestry, and fisheries.
I would like to ask that Minister Ishiba and the relevant ministers deepen discussions and that the members of this Council thoroughly compile the bill. Thank you very much.”
